A Brief Bio
I grew up in Fremont, California and did my undergraduate work quite close to home at UC Berkeley. Since, 2004, I have lived east of the Mississippi. I started Grad School in the Computer Science Department at the University of Maryland, but halfway through, my advisor, Francois Guimbretiere, moved to Cornell. I jumped at the chance to see a new part of the country and moved to Ithaca to finish up my Ph.D. Even though for administrative purposes I am both a student at UMD and Cornell, when I do get my Ph.D. it will be from UMD.
Although most of my work is at the University, I have had the good fortune to work at some really stellar organizations during my summer internships. I worked with Abigail Sellen, whom I’ve greatly admired, at Microsoft Research Cambridge. I also spent time at the Ricoh California Research Center working with some incredible engineers (Ed Schwartz, Sergey Chemishkian, Ken Gudan, and Rich Kosoglow) who showed me how things get built in the real world.
In the free time that I have, I have come to enjoy cooking, latin dance, travelling (especially solo road trips), and playing music.
